In the middle of 2010, Freemake.com, a multimedia software developer, released its first utility Freemake Video Converter. The tool has become incredibly popular among users due to its range of features, amazing design, and ease of use. Now it is a flagship product of Freemake.com. You can download Freemake Video Converter from here.
Let’s have a more attentive look at this video conversion tool.
Install the Software
First of all, go to the official Freemake site and download the installer. Please note that the software runs under Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8, and Windows 10. Windows XP installers are available upon the request at Freemake Support Team.
There are two installer versions: online and offline one. The 1st version requires an Internet connection during the installation process; the 2nd one can be installed on a PC without the Internet.
Launch the installation file on your PC or laptop and follow the steps to install the software. Freemake Video Converter doesn’t have any ad offers during the installation. Thus you can be sure that you won’t get any additional tools you don’t need.
Start the video converter as soon as the installation is completed. You’ll see a colorful tool with big buttons at the top and at the bottom. Those at the top are “+Audio”, “+Video”, “+DVD”, “+Photo”, and “Paste URL”. These buttons serve to import multimedia content into the software. The bottom buttons are video formats you can save your videos to. Don’t worry! You don’t need to be a tech-savvy person to use the utility.
There are also three social media buttons in the center of the converter in case you want to follow the company news and updates.
Let’s check the options you will need to convert a video to iPhone, iPad, or iPod.
Convert Offline Videos
Freemake Video Converter can easily convert videos from your PC to Apple supported format. To do it, simply click the +Video button to add all the video files that you want to convert to your gadget. Then choose “to Apple” green bubble (the 3D one) on the formats panel. Choose your device model from a drop-down menu.
If it’s not there, create a custom profile with the necessary settings. For this, click the blue cog-wheel button right under the profile choice to edit a current preset. Alternatively, you may scroll to the bottom of the drop-down choice and select an option “Add your preset”. In case you don’t know the recommended frame size for your Apple device, you may search for it online. Insert the found data into the software fields. If necessary, change video codec, fps, or audio data. Please note that you can’t make an HD file out of a non-HD one. The software will just add the black bars to your video to prevent quality loss.
After you’ve finished with editing, click the OK button. You can save the profile settings for future use, so next time you won’t have to add all the settings again. Now run the conversion process by clicking the “Convert” blue button.
Cut, Join, Rotate Videos
Freemake Video Converter includes a simple video editor that lets you cut undesired video parts, join several movies into one long file, and rotate video 90 and 180 degrees.
If you need to cut or rotate video, run the Freemake editor by clicking the green scissors button that will appear when you add a video into the tool. Please keep in mind that Freemake Video Converter doesn’t support the h265 codec. Thus if you add a file with such codec, the editor will be unavailable, and your video file will be shown as a music one.
To cut a movie, mark the unnecessary part with corresponding software buttons, and then click the blue scissor to cut it. Repeat these actions when you want to cut more video parts.
To rotate a clip, click the round arrow button once if you need to rotate it 90 degrees, or twice for 180 degrees. Don’t forget to click OK to save the changes.
To merge several movie parts into one complete video, enable the Join on option in the top right corner of the software.
Then, as you already know, select the Apple format and convert your edited videos.
Save Online Videos
An amazing option of Freemake Video Converter that is worth mentioning is YouTube video conversion. Apart from offline movies, the software can save YouTube videos in audio and video extensions. Everything you will need to do to save a YouTube video is to copy a YouTube video link, run Freemake Video Converter and click the “Paste URL” button. The video preview will appear in the tool. Now choose the Apple bubble and your device. Start the conversion process to save the video.
For MP3, select the “to MP3” bubble, then your music quality, and save the clip to MP3.
Both video and MP3 output options provide an Export to iTunes feature. If you mark it, your downloaded songs and clips will be saved to iTunes media library automatically. Thus to add them to your iPhone, iPod, or iPad, you’ll just need to sync your device and iTunes.
Rip DVD and Blu-ray discs
If you are going on vacations, it’ll be great to have a couple of movies to watch during flights or on the beach. Freemake Video Converter can help you convert your DVDs to MP4 to upload to an Apple device. Please note that the disc should not have any kind of protection. Due to the copyright legal issues, the software doesn’t support protected files.
For non-protected discs, select the Apple format, your device and start the conversion. In case your movie has several subtitles and audio tracks, choose the necessary one before ripping. Keep in mind that you can rip a disc with only one audio and one subtitles track.
You should also pay attention to the fact that the subtitles will be encoded in the video. It means you won’t be able to turn them off.
Add Subtitles to Videos
If your movie doesn’t have a subtitles track, but you’d love to have one, Freemake can add it to your video. You just need to find a right subtitles file online in SRT, ASS, SSA formats. The subtitles letters will have simple white Ariel font. Colors and custom font is not supported. However, there is an additional Freemake Pack that lets change the subtitles font and size.
Add Slideshow with Pics and Music
This option is quite rare for the tool of a kind. Freemake Video Converter allows users to create a simple slideshow with photos and music. You may upload it to iPhone and then stream onto a big screen on your friend’s wedding or birthday party.
To create a presentation, add your memorable photos, set an interval between them and select an audio track. You can add only one song. So you need to have enough of pics to fill the entire music file, or it’ll be cut.
Then choose “to Apple“, your gadget and save your presentation. You can also export it to iTunes right away.
As a bottom line, Freemake Video Converter is a great utility for all those who need a good converter to prepare videos for iPhone, iPod, and iPads. It can do almost everything you need and even more.
